What is Modal Satin fabric?
- Modal Satin is a semi-synthetic fabric that is created from the pulp of beech trees.
- It is a type of rayon that is also a plant-based textile, however, modal satin is much more durable.
- It is often blended with fibers like spandex and cotton to give extra strength.
- Modal satin is considered a luxurious fabric due to its soft touch and high cost.
History
- It was basically developed in Japan during the 1950s.
- However, currently, most of the modal satin is manufactured by an Australian company “Lenzing AG”, which comprises a trademark for the fabric.

How To Judge the Authenticity of Modal Satin
- Modal Satin has a shiny top surface with a tarnishing appearance on the other.
- When wet, modal satin does not lose its shape.
Care Instructions
- Modal Satin can be washed in any water temperature, however, cold water is perfect.
- It is not compulsory to dry clean the fabric.
- Do not apply chlorine based-bleach as it will weaken the fabric, use oxygen based-bleach.
- To avoid wrinkling do not let clothes stay in the dryer for a much longer period, hang up immediately.
